![]() Early on, it's more important to get a few stacks of decent low-tier units going than it is to build lots of structures. Upgrading cities takes more time, and you can't build units as well as heroes.Battles are much more tactical (and much more fun.) The stronger army usually wins, but you can lose important units or heroes even when you're fighting inferior foes, unless you pay attention. So instead, spread out and fight on multiple fronts. The maximum effective army size is 4 or so stacks of 6 units working together. Building a big army is still important, but you can't just throw everything together in a killer stack. Not only will you need the experience you get, but the gold you find (sell some rewards) is vital in keeping your economy going. It is even more important to explore and search treasure sites. On a more general note, compared to Heroes of Might and Magic: In your case: research Animal Summoning spells until "Produce Shaman" appears. To get the Shamans, you need to research class units. They're actually not that good at long range, but they're quite tough and make for a great support unit for your animals. They're basically minor versions of your Archdruid hero. Shamans are quite tough, can entangle enemies, shoot point bolts, befriend animals and even learn to heal. (No race does, except kinda-sorta-maybe the Tigrans.) You do, however, get a tier 3 ranged unit from your Archdruid class, in the form of the Shaman. You do not get any tier 3 archers from your racial units. In the case of Elves, this mechanic can let your Storm Sisters negate long range penalties (just like your archers) and can even give both your archers and storm sisters the ability to ignore cover penalties, turning these units into utterly lethal ranged kilers. They start out pretty decent, but if you get them to Gold medal they become amazing, with the ability to stun anything they hit.Īdditionally, if you have the Eternal Lords expansion, you can get Racial Governance points that will let you upgrade your units further. In the case of Elves, it lets you recruit Storm Sisters, who throw lightning at the enemy. ![]() To get the tier 2 support unit you need to build the Temple. Are there no Elf range units on tier 2 / 3? Originally posted by Rudel:Good to know, but the Warhall only gives me Melee Tier 2 units as far as I understand. ![]()
